Clariant in Albion, MI
Albion, MI
The Albion site is located about 60 miles west of Detroit. The facility manufactures a wide variety of masterbatch products that go into a diverse array of end uses. Masterbatches made at Albion find their way into nylons and small parts for automobiles. They go into sporting goods, textiles, office furniture, picnic plasticware, even conveyor belts that are used in food handling applications. Helping separate Clariant from the competition is Albion’s manufacturing of master plaques for the automobile industry.

The color accuracy of these plastic sheets, made in precise color shades, allows major auto manufacturers to match exact colors to the interiors of the cars they make. Clariant is one of the few companies in the U.S. that offers this product.

Clariant in Holden, MA
Holden, MA
The Holden facility, located about 30 miles west of Boston in central Massachusetts, serves as the North American headquarters for the Masterbatches Business.

In addition to sales operations, production at Holden focuses on Renol® color concentrates that go in to an array of consumer goods that employ high-temperature, engineered resins that are difficult to color.

Holden is also home to one of North America’s ColorWorks® sites, where color specialists work closely with designers, developers and engineers – not only to help them find exactly the right colors for their durable goods, but also to ensure they are technically compatible with the materials used. This unique service capability allows customers to reduce the time needed in developing new products. It also reduces costs and eliminates potential problems that can be associated with adding color to plastics.

The capabilities of the ColorWorks® were recently upgraded to include a tri-layer extrusion blow-molding bottle machine to serve East Coast packaging customers. The Holden site has also developed a close relationship with many of the major North American resin producers. These partnerships allow Clariant to provide customized color and additive solutions that help bring additional value to the resin producers’ end-products.

Clariant in Winchester, VA

Winchester, VA
The Winchester site is located in northern Virginia about 80 miles northwest of Washington, D.C. At this facility, manufacturing comprises pelleted masterbatches that -- unlike products made at other Clariant Masterbatches sites -- do not use color.

Here, masterbatches are made with flame-retardant additives that go into chairs for schools, as well as antimicrobial additives (that prevent mold and mildew) that go into plastics for water bottles, food packaging and major appliances.
This site also produces Clariant’s range of Hydrocerol® chemical foaming agents that help our customers make many of their products not only lighter but also “greener” – by reducing the plastic content in their parts.

Winchester additive masterbatches also find their way into plastic automobile parts, office furniture, plastic plates and cups, plastic parts in vacuum cleaners, even innovative “plastic” wood found in home improvement stores.
